Sunny Habit
By Michael Caylo-Baradi

Now and then, I
go to church.

I’d look at the pulpit, and
sometimes listen

to it when it starts
to flow like old,

dry habit. After service
is over, I’d shake and squeeze

the pastor’s hand,
his words, and feel light

on the
sidewalk sun.

Michael Caylo-Baradi works in Southern California. His work has appeared or is forthcoming in Tertulia Magazine, Kartika Review, elimae, XCP: Streetnotes, Underground Voices, Galatea Resurrects, and Mannequin Envy.
